EDITORIAL: SOCIALITES

Katie Lee, Staff Writer

One common stereotype of my generation is that we are too involved with social media, and I’m not going to sit here and try to argue against that because it is true. I just want to ask one question: What’s the big deal? Every generation has their own thing and ours just happens to be one of the greatest things of all. Now I know social media isn’t all good, but that’s only because not all people are good. Social media gives people a way to express themselves, connect with friends, and meet new people, and honestly just something to do to pass the time. Social media is great. It gave us one of the most amazing things ever, memes. Honestly, where would we be without memes? I don’t even want to think about that. My favorite site is Twitter because it keeps me connected with the world, so I always know what’s going on; it always supplies the freshest memes, and it lets me creep on people that I want to be friends but am too nervous to talk to in real life. Snapchat is pretty cool too with super sick filters that make you look like old ladies and peppers and it lets you see people you haven’t seen in a while, like my best friend Morgan who lives in Atlanta. I don’t think it’s a bad thing that my generation is super involved in social media, our parents and grandparents would have been too if they had it. I think it would be a pretty dull world without social media.
