Have you ever been in a mood where you are just really sad? It could be that you got fired from your job, your girlfriend or boyfriend broke up with you, or you are just sad for no reason. Almost everyone has been sad for one reason or another and they all have dealt with it in different ways. Some people eat excessively or shop too much or hurt themselves to help cope with their sadness and almost all of these ways are unhealthy and there is a much better way to deal with your sadness. The way that I deal with sadness is that I just laugh or I try to make others laugh because it makes me so happy when I see that I have brightened someone’s day by just making a bad joke or saying something dumb. Studies have shown that if you make yourself smile, then you will automatically be happier than you were. Laughing and smiling are a very healthy way to deal with sadness as it does not cost anything to do it and there is no down side to it like drinking or doing drugs. I know I have been very sad before but all I ever need to do is make someone else laugh and I automatically feel better. If you are ever down and you need a way to change that, then just find someone and tell them a joke. It will make you happy and, who knows, maybe that person was even sadder than you and the fact that you took the time to interact with them will make their day all the better.
