Alpacas are the subject for this week, but my last article discussed the difference between a llama and an alpaca and how to communicate with them. Today, I am going to talk about how to dye an alpaca. Yes, I said dye. You can dye dogs. You can dye cats. But, can you dye an alpaca?

The answer is yes. An alpaca is an animal, and we have many hair dyes that can be used on animals. I mean, we use them on dogs, so it would impossible to dye an alpaca. Although, I do understand that they are either rare or unheard of, but it is possible to dye one. You would have to read everything on the hair-dye bottle, though, just like if you were going to dye your own hair or if you were going to dye your pet’s hair. You would want to make sure it is safe for the animal to use. You will have to wash the alpaca before you dye it due to the oils that their natural fibers have. I would recommend acid dye if you actually have an alpaca and want to dye it. I only recommend this because everyone who has dyed an alpaca seems to pick acid dyes. Another recommendation would be to dye your alpaca at the highest temperature and to leave the dye on longer to get the color you truly want.

So, the moral of the story is that if you want to dye an alpaca, it is not impossible, and you can totally do it. Just make sure it is animal safe before you do anything.
