Recently, creators of the Netflix original series “Seven Deadly Sins” announced that season four will be arriving around July or August 2020. With this recent news, it’s only fitting to have a recap on season 1 through 3. In the first season, viewers meet main characters Elizabeth, a runaway princess, and Meliodas, the wrath sin and captain of the Seven Deadly Sins. Together Meliodas and Elizabeth search the kingdom of Liones and surrounding areas to find the other six sins because of the misdeeds of Holy Knights, or Kingdom Liones’ strongest warriors. By the end of the first season, the duo grows into a group of five with the new addition of the sins Envy, Greed, and Sloth.
Unlike traditional representations of the seven deadly sins, the creators of this show put their own spin on the appearance of each of the sins. For example, the sin Envy: most people may think of green and jealousy when they think of Envy, but in the show Envy is represented by Diane, a 750-year-old giant taking on the appearance of a 15-year-old girl. Diane can usually be found wearing an orange jumpsuit and pigtails. Another character that has an unorthodox appearance is a sin found in later seasons, the sin of Lust. Gowther was formerly recognized as a purple war machine who could barely speak actual sentences. In the show, Gowther is actually a pink-haired doll who lusts for knowledge. He doesn’t seem to understand feelings or boundaries which gets him into some serious trouble, all of which should be occurring in season 4.
By the end of season three, the sins have finally grown to the full seven. Captain Meliodas and his team are faced with many tough challenges such as the Ten Commandments and the Demon Race, all of which is bigger than the original Holy Knight predicament. Of course, season three ended with a cliffhanger, leaving the viewer to their own imagination. Fans are hoping to find answers and some peace with the arrival of season four, but of course, good things come to those who wait.
