Winter, the time of the year when it is too cold to play a sport outside, is when basketball starts up. Just like winter, basketball season is starting at Heritage High School too. Even though winter is not starting like it is supposed to, the Lady Generals are. They won their last basketball game against Cohulla Creek. It was obviously a tough match, but the ladies pulled out a great win with a score of 54-42. With such a tough battle and a great win, I decided to interview a senior varsity player of the girls’ basketball team. Alexis Bolden has been playing basketball for 11 years. She started playing basketball when she was just 6 years old, and she stills loves the sport. Alexis says when she graduates high school, she is going to get her Associates Degree. She practices hard every day, and during off season she runs almost every day to keep her body in shape. Since she is such a great player I decided to ask her if she had any advice for the freshman girls on the team, and this was her response: “Work hard and always give 110% effort. Especially in practice because you practice like you play. As long as you give effort and work hard, you will get to play.” It seems like working hard and practicing hard is important for Alexis to accomplish her goals.
