EDITORIAL: CAMPING IS IN-TENTS

Bethany Hall, Staff Writer

Everyone can name their favorite pass time, whether it’s listening to music, cooking, going to the movies, or just a quiet night at home. Mine? My favorite pastime is going camping with my family. I have been going camping with my family since I was about six years old. It’s ten years later and I still love it more than any other activity. There is nothing better than sitting around an amazing, crackling fire, snuggled in your lawn chair with a blanket over you, roasting marshmallows, and sitting with your favorite people in the world under the stars. My favorite time to go camping is the month of April, where it’s not too hot and not too cold, and it’s so comfortable that I can spend every night sleeping in my hammock. Then, during the day, we can go hiking or kayaking as a family, and it’s always so peaceful and I love making new memories like that. Also, believe it or not, there is nothing more relaxing to me than cooking while you’re in the woods. The smell of fresh air mixed with bacon in the morning is heavenly and I wish I could wake up to it every single morning. I also love spending time with my little sister, Keilah, when we’re camping. Usually, we will watch movies in the camper on cold nights and if it’s nice outside, my parents will join us and we’ll sit at the picnic table and play card games such as “Spades,” “Uno,” or “Canasta.” It truly is ten times better than some random party on a Friday night or even just staying home. Especially after a hectic and crazy week at school and work, camping is my #1 stress reliever, and it works every time.
