SWEET SUMMERTIME

Katie Lee, Staff Writer

Today is my last day at Heritage High as a junior, and when I return this fall I will be a senior and on my way to graduation. So, technically, this is my last summer as a high schooler, and I want to make it count. Now when I say that, I don’t mean I plan on doing anything crazy; I’m just saying that I want this summer to be great, and I want to be content with it by the time it’s over. I am not really one to plan things ahead of time because I like to be spontaneous; therefore, I don’t know everything I will be doing this summer, but I can tell you the things I know for sure I will be doing.

Work is going to be taking up most of my time this summer, and I know that might sound boring, but I actually enjoy going to work. Also, I just found out yesterday that I am getting promoted, so I will be making more money, and I am so pumped for that. I plan on saving money, too, so maybe by next summer I will be able to move out, but I am pretty bad with money, so we’ll see how that goes.

My mom has been talking about us taking a family vacation this summer, and I am trying to talk her into taking us to Universal Studios in Orlando, but she is kind of set on going to the beach. As of right now I am excited because we don’t go on vacations a lot, but I am a little worried because my family doesn’t get along that well, and I would like to go on a vacation where we don’t argue the whole time. I am going to try and remain optimistic about it though and say that it is going to be great.

Also this summer I plan to start running and eating healthier so that I can feel better. I’m just really sick of eating fast food, and I would love to be able to put on a bathing suit this summer and not feel self conscious about it. This is probably the thing I am most excited for because I feel like it is going to make me feel better. I’m hoping I can get some of my friends to join me, but even if they don’t, I am still going to.

Other than that, I don’t really have any other set plans. Of course I will be hanging out with my friends, and I might get to go visit my best friend in Atlanta, but I’m not sure. I’ll just be doing the regular summer things like going swimming and hiking, going to bonfires, and just relaxing. I am very much looking forward to this summer and I think it will be the best one yet.
