NEHS Book Drive Garners 500+ Donations

Garrett Peace, Staff Writer

Last week marked the end of the annual book drive held by Heritage’s chapter of the National English Honor Society. Our NEHS students, with the assistance of Heritage’s English teachers, raised 596 books in total, with 9th Grade English teacher April White taking in the most donations. NEHS sponsor and English teacher Mrs. McCole said, “I am so thankful for our NEHS members and HHS students and teachers who donated so many wonderful books to our community.” McCole noted that “these books are a gift to students and teachers across the county while also helping fulfill some of the need that was created when Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was no longer funded for preschool children in our area.” These books will go to needy children in Catoosa County, as well as to children in Nicaragua helped by our Impact2One organization.
