Varsity Football Season Wrap Up

The Heritage Generals Varsity Football team had one of their most impressive seasons yet. Finishing with an overall record of (8-3), the Generals had a hot start of the season going (6-0). To start the hot streak, the Generals defeated Ringgold at Ringgold with a final score of (31-17). Following this giant rivalry win, the Generals traveled to play their third ever out of state game at East Hamilton to play in what was selected to be the “Game of the Week” in Chattanooga. The Generals defeated East Hamilton (24-9) in this game. The next week, the Generals defeated LFO (48-14) in their first home game of the season. In the following week, the Generals defeated Ridgeland in another blowout victory by a score of (35-7). For Homecoming, the Generals faced Chattanooga Prep, and defeated them by a final score of (47-0). After three weeks of playing at home, the Generals traveled to Southeast to play their first region game of the season. The Generals beat the Raiders by a final score of (55-12).

After their hot 6-0 start, the team suffered their first loss of the season at home to Cedartown (42-0). After this crushing loss, the players traveled to Northwest and defeated them by a final score of (40-36). In the following week, the Generals defeated Sonoraville in a  last second thriller (35-34). In their final regular season game of the year, the Generals traveled to Central Carrollton and suffered a (35-23) loss. In the first round of the playoffs, the Generals suffered their most tragic loss of the season at Walnut Grove in heartbreaking fashion by a score of (17-13). As head coach EK Slaughter is known for saying, the Generals played to their full potential as players, and people when they were on the field this season.
