Director Sammi Cohen made the movie “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah”, a funny, emotional, and relatable movie. The movie is about a young teenage girl “Stacy”, who is played by Sunny Sandler, going through drama at school and with her best friend Lydia.

The movie starts with Stacy explaining the many different ways different cultures celebrate life, like a bat mitzvah. The movie then shows Stacy’s family. Her older sister Ronnie, is played by Sadie Sandler. Their being sisters helped with the movie because they definitely showed the true bond of family. Later in the movie they introduce the rest of the family and more. Stacy’s mom, Jackie Sandler, shows the true meaning of “Tough Love” to her daughters. The Dad, Danny Friedman, who is played by Adam Sandler, shows a flimsy, loving Dad.

Later on in the movie, Stacy shows her crush, Andy, is now dating her best friend. Because of this, Stacy ends the friendship between her and Lydia and tells her “You are so not invited to my bat mitzvah!” Stacy later ends up losing her two other best friends. Due to losing her friends, Stacy made an embarrassing video about Lydia, but Stacy didn’t know that this video would be played at Lydia’s Bat Mitzvah. After ruining Lydia’s Bat Mitzvah, Stacy tried apologizing, but that wasn’t enough. Stacy threw away her bat mitzvah to throw Lydia a perfect one to make up for ruining hers, re-building the friendship they had before. Stacy swore to never let a boy ruin their friendship again.

Due to this movie being on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, the film has grown in popularity. Although the movie wasn’t my favorite, it might be somebody else’s, so I would definitely recommend it! Another reason the movie blew up was that the actors, Adam Sandler, and his family have played in other movies such as “Grown Ups” and “Blended”. Adam Sandler has become very well known, So when his two daughters Sunny and Sadie Sandler, and his wife Jackie Sandler acted in a movie together it got instant recognition. I would give this movie an overall rating of 6.5/10.
