Mrs. Michelle Gee is the new registrar at Heritage. Located in the counseling office, a registrar is someone who maintains school records, data, and helps enroll students in school and classes. Mrs. Gee is a graduate from Trevecca University in Nashville; she received her degree in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Gee has been a resident of Ringgold for about ten years now. Her hobbies outside of school include reading books and spending time with her kids.
Mrs. Gee chose to go to Heritage mainly because her kids go to the middle school across the street. She has worked for school systems for almost seven years. “It was a pretty easy transition,” Mrs. Gee stated. She hasn’t always worked at a school. She first started out at an oncology office as well as optometry. The Heritage students and staff have made Mrs. Gee feel very welcomed this school year. “Everybody is always willing to help if I need it, so that’s been really nice,” said Mrs. Gee.
Mrs. Gee’s job is to answer the phone and help register kids as new students, log personal information, and communicate with other schools in the area. This role ensures that all data is up-to-date, which is important for the smooth operation of the school. In addition to managing records, school registrars often serve as a liaison between parents, staff, and students. They provide crucial information about academic policies, course offerings, and graduation requirements. By doing this Mrs. Gee helps students stay informed and make the best decisions in order to head on the right path.
Registrars need to have the right skills for the job such as being detail oriented and organized so that no information will be lost or all over the place. Additionally, registrars play a big role in compliance; They make sure that the school meets all state and federal regulations regarding student records and data privacy. By maintaining records and staying on top of paperwork, Mrs. Gee helps uphold Heritage’s good reputation and accreditation status. Mrs. Gee does a lot behind the scenes for Heritage, and we are grateful to have her here on staff!
