Mrs. Amy Waldrop is a new special education teacher joining Heritage for her 13th year of working in schools. Mrs. Waldrop attended Dalton State College and was a paraprofessional for ten years. This is her third year teaching. Before she arrived at Heritage she worked at Ringgold High School and Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School. Mrs. Waldrop’s first impression of our school made her love it instantly. She said, “Heritage is so very welcoming, I felt at home immediately.” So far, she is really enjoying working with the students and staff at Heritage.
When she isn’t teaching, she loves the outdoors and cooking. Her favorite things to do are go hiking and cook for her family and friends. The meal that she loves to cook most is stuffed meatloaf.
Mrs. Waldrop is also very passionate about making students feel welcome and able to come to her with anything. She said, “I want to impact the students of Heritage by making everyone feel safe. I want students to feel like there’s nothing they can’t ask me. I try to be of service to the students as much as I can.” She decided to work at Heritage because of all of the great things she’s heard about the school and the community, and she says that everything she’s heard is true. “It’s so good here. I’m afraid I’m gonna wake up because it’s all been a dream.” Mrs. Waldrop is looking forward to her new and exciting year at a new school, so let’s make her feel welcome!
