Sophomore Lilly Howell was nominated to be the Class of 2027’s Homecoming Court Representative by her classmates. On September 30th, she was honored in front of the whole student body during the parade. Adorned in a beautiful dress, Howell rode in on an exquisitely decorated golf cart and was escorted by middle school football coach and teacher, Coach Turner. During the ceremony, an announcer read a paragraph describing Howell while a photographer captured pictures of this wonderful moment in her life. Howell’s parents walked with her down the field, their faces shining with pride at the accomplishment of their daughter. It was a very special day for Howell.
Howell was reluctant to talk about herself, but she had wonderful things to say about being a member of the Homecoming Court. There are many things that could inspire a person to strive for Homecoming Court, but for Howell it was one of her “amazing friends [that] did it last year, and she looked so gorgeous. And, it was such a good time for her,” so Howell wanted to experience that herself.
She thinks people voted for her because she is kind and tries “to make sure [her] class is always doing good at pep rallies and having fun.”
Howell is very involved. She is in HOSA, FCCLA, and Partner’s Club. She also does community service. Howell and her grandmother help give baby clothes out to families in need, and she has helped with the food pantry at her church for years. “I love giving back to my community,” stated Howell.
After high school, Howell plans on attending the University of Alabama to become a pediatric psychiatrist. A pediatric psychiatrist is almost like a psychologist for kids, except they can prescribe medication. Howell has big dreams, and is going to work hard to achieve them.
As with anyone, when not at school Howell enjoys a variety of things. She especially likes hanging out with friends and family.
Howell is a determined person who is extremely glad to be a member of the Homecoming Court. She is bubbly and caring, and tries her best to help others in any way she can. Howell can’t wait to see where life takes her, and is striving to achieve her goals. If you see her in the halls, make sure to wave or say, “Hi!” You won’t regret it.
