“Dress to Impress” is a popular fashion game where you can dress up to a randomly selected theme and compete to win. There’s many different servers to play on, and you can pay to choose different themes. In the game, you are placed in a server where there’s many different items of clothing to choose from to create the best outfit according to the theme. This game can be found and played on a gaming platform called “Roblox.” “Dress to Impress” was created in November of 2023 by a young creator that goes by their Roblox username “Gigi_DTI.” Even though the game was created last year, it has gotten extremely popular all over the world this summer.
This game has become popular for being easy to play and keeping up with current fashion trends. Also, It has gotten popular from the many influencers who have played it. Some influencers who have played the game are CaseOh, Madison Beer, Tara Yummy, and the Sturniolo Triplets. The game is mostly played by teenagers and young adults. Many people around Heritage play this game often, even while at school. How did people come to know about this game though? It’s gotten recognition on many social media platforms, but mostly it’s been seen on TikTok. One of Heritage’s sophomore students, Yarili Delgado, said ”I was scrolling through TikTok and saw people posting clips of it.”
In “Dress to Impress,” they have many different features to make the game more interesting. One feature is a VIP section that you pay to get, but is it worth it? It has its pros and cons, but overall it isn’t worth it to have it. A sophomore here, Danna Cruz, said, “I don’t really think you need it (VIP) to win.” Also, the game is updated often, giving the game new things like clothes, or different accessories. In one big update, a Charli XCX “BRAT” themed version of the game came out and the look of the game changed to be themed around the artist’s new album, along with new items. The update gave fun new themes and unique clothing pieces. Some people liked it, while others preferred the original version.
Even though this game is fun, it also comes with some downsides. A lot of the time people play this game together causing them to team up and vote their friends unfairly. That ends up rigging the game, making it unfair to the other players on the server. Even though it is unfair to everyone in the game, everyone has been doing it to try and win. It is not the best way to play the game, but you can’t be too upset when you’re doing it. So while this new popular game does have its ups and downs, it’s very loved and no one, from here at Heritage to across the country, seems to be able to stop playing it.
