The latest release in the “Terrifier” franchise, “Terrifier 3,” has hit theaters, and fans of the horror genre are buzzing with excitement. Directed by Damien Leone, this movie promises to push the boundaries of murderous and disturbing scenes.
If we go back to “Terrifier 2,” the film follows the protagonist Sienna, played by Lauren LaVera, as she battles the blood-curdling Art the Clown, played by David Howard Thornton. The film opens with a surprising prologue that sets a dark tone, introducing new characters that were quickly vulnerable victims to Art’s sadistic antics.
“Terrifier 3” extends in its ability to blend horror with dark humor. Leone’s signature style is more in creating crafted kill scenes, each getting more inventive and butchery than the last. While some may argue that the film was unappealing to watch, fans still appreciated the creativity that defines this series.
However, that does not mean this film doesn’t have flaws. If we take a look at the character development and the old films, the director has left some audiences yearning for deeper storytelling. The pacing is also not flattering at times, with certain scenes dragging on longer than it should be.
In general, “Terrifier 3” has made a solid place in the horror pantheon as a “must-see” for fans of the genre. Although “Terrifier 3” may not be the best of the best movies in the horror genre, it still delivers exactly what the audience craves: blood, terror, and a slight dark humor. At the end of the movie the credits roll in, but they have made one thing clear: Art the Clown is not done just yet, and this has left the fans eagerly awaiting for what comes next.
