The 2024 Heritage High School Softball team have been State Champions for three years in a row. They have competed at State almost every single year since the school opened. The Softball team has been really successful in these past few years. This year, they made it to State once again, and the Lady Generals were able to come out on top.
Before the State Championship game, Coach Regan Amour said she believed that they made State because they are an outstanding team, and because they play hard and stay motivated all the time. She also said that they had been practicing very hard since they got into the state level, and they were practicing even harder once they were in the final four.
The team said they loved playing softball with their teammates and that they thought of them as family. They treat everyone on the team with respect. The girls said they loved each and every player on the team, and they know if they didn’t they wouldn’t be able to function as smoothly as they have.
Our softball players are a great example of Heritage Generals. Senior Jenna Ryans said, “[Senior] Ella Blansit stood out because she’s humble and doesn’t brag about it.” Ryans also said, “I improved by being a good teammate, and I’m most proud of winning State.” Senior Macie Collins said Senior Addi Edwards stood out the most because she’s consistent and a really good pitcher. Collins said she had improved her hitting, and her favorite memory was winning the State Championship.
Senior Breanna Wilson said she improved in her bats and her leadership. Her favorite memory was dressing up for Halloween at State. She is most proud of the friendships she’s made while playing softball. The hardest challenge for the team was playing against Lafayette because they were a really good team. They worked so hard and didn’t quit even when they lost. Their hard work paid off in the long run, and Heritage can now boast that they are the 2024 AAA Fastpitch Softball State Champions.
