Heritage High School Wrestling is in season, and they are ready for anything. The morale of the team is great this year. Freshman wrestler Keegan Tidwell said, “We have a good coaching staff that wants to win the State Championship this year.” The team has worked so hard during practices so far, and you can tell through their determination that they want to go all the way this year.
You can tell they want to go to practice to learn and improve, rather than playing around. Sophomore Garrett Ellis said that his teammates this year work a lot harder than his teammates from last year, and he thinks that junior Kaden Taylor is a perfect example of how to work hard during practice. Also, the team’s determination has grown since last year. Ellis also said that his teammates, “actually care about going far this year because they don’t goof off during practice.”
The Wrestling team traveled to Archer High School in Atlanta, Georgia, where they placed fourth in the tournament out of 25 schools. They are motivated to do even better in the next tournaments and meets they have. With Heritage cheering them on, they are going to have a great season.
The Heritage High School Wrestling team has talent in every weight class, from Ellis in the 144 weight class to freshman Wyatt Womack in the 106 weight class, and many more. Head Coach Landon Reed is very proud of the wrestlers so far, and thinks they are going to do incredible things this year. His goal for our wrestlers is for them to go to State and win. Coach Reed also thinks they have talent in the lower classmen like freshmen Jaxon Grant, Landon Tripp, and sophomore Van Normans as well. Overall, the Wrestling team looks great this year, and they are definitely going to do well this winter. They are working so hard and deserve to go all the way.
