Battlefield Primary recently collaborated with Heritage High School, a remarkable event that brought together senior graphic design students and young aspiring artists. The senior graphic design project started right before Halloween. Mrs. Kara Owens, a graphic design teacher, was aiming to foster creativity and provide mentoring for the young students.
The preparation for this event began weeks in advance, with Mrs. Owens having planned for every aspect of the project. They designed a series of Halloween themed activities that would not only engage the second graders, but also introduce their younger mindset to the basics of graphic design. The spooky illustrations digital made the seniors ensured that every activity was both fun and educational.
One of the highlights of the day of preparation was a special workshop where the elementary students created monsters using colored pencils and markers, which were then digitally recreated by the High School students using Adobe Illustrator.
On the day of the event, the environment at Battlefield Primary was vibrating with excitement. “They absolutely loved it. They apparently were really looking forward to us visiting,” said Owens. She said that elementary students enjoyed the process, particularly meeting the high school students who recreated their monsters.
The interaction was highly appreciated, with the elementary students looking forward to the visit and overall excited for the results. To the students at Heritage High School the Halloween project not only provided a platform to express their creativity and learning, but also strengthened the interactions between students of different age groups. It was a wonderful day that showcased the power of art and creativity, leaving everyone looking forward to future collaborations.
