Coach Broom, the head coach of the Flag Football team, stated, “The banquet was the celebration of the end of the season, it was a review of the high points, the low points, and our final opportunity to be all together.” Since it was their first season the coaches gave out all time awards, because if you were the leader in the category, you’re the all time leading person. They had awards like leading score, most interceptions, most passing yards, and most punting yards. “We really hope next season will be as fun, professional, and with some good athletes as we had this season,” he added.
The celebration was really emotional; our players, and their families, assisted in this event, as did all of the coaches. It was also a really fun event since Coach Broom prepared videos, awards and even a “Coaches Famous Celebrity Look-alike” award. What also made it really special was that all the players received a calendar with their team pictures and birthdays on it, shirts, and their new records.
“Flag Football really made me grow up as a person, as a leader, and as a teammate. I really liked connecting with a bunch of girls I didn’t even know before the season,” claimed one of the team captains, senior Lindsey Gibson. Our first Flag Football team will always be in our hearts, and will always remain in all our players and coaches’ good memories. As Coach Lauren Peters said, the girls will always be part of “Team One.”
