In 2022 Moe’s Southwest Grill in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, closed down due to lack of revenue. Now, in 2025 it is reopening with a slight remodeling and a few high schoolers are excited about it.
With a little incentive, the gathering for the ribbon cutting was outstanding! Many are raving due to the means in which they opened and promoted their free food to draw in people on opening day. Heritage junior Lorelai Canady, a local Moe’s finatic, even said she waited “five hours” through the line to get into the Moe’s once they opened! However, her reward was definitely worth the wait considering it was an entire year of free burritos.
She is not alone with this experience; many other Heritage High School students found themselves in the same situation on the 14th. A huge amount of students from local high schools are either raving or disappointed about Moe’s reopening. Another student, senior Levi Forehand, stated that he “loved” Moe’s and would’ve waited five hours, or even longer, for a year’s worth of free burritos. The final student, Heritage senior Isaac Kim, stated that waiting in that long of a line for some burritos is “insanity.” And that, “Moe’s wasn’t that good and should’ve stayed closed.” Those who are disappointed are only such because of their dislike for Moe’s in the past, which can be seen as ignorant as they haven’t even tried it since it’s been reopened.
We will see how the restaurant develops, and maybe this time they’ll survive the fresh open business and truly last this time. Is this turnout due to strictly being reopened, or do these people truly like Moe’s this much? Only time will tell.
