Recently, Heritage hosted our very own talent show for all to attend and enjoy. It was put together February 12th, and the cost to attend was $3. Our generals put their heart and soul into rehearsing their performances and perfecting their arts. The anticipation and excitement from not only our students, but also the parents, was through the roof on the day of the performance. All the generals were lined up to see how everything would go, as the talent show previously had gone flawlessly too. They were also excited to see their friends perform in the show.
“It went really well this year, we didn’t have any issues!” Mrs. Jennifer Wells said, one of the main organizers of the talent show this year. The annual talent show has become a tradition among our high school, and our peers wouldn’t change a thing about it.
There is a lot of work that goes into organizing the talent show. First, Wells had to go through the auditions, and make cuts where they needed to be made. She then had to set up the stage, and think about the stage from a logistical standpoint, as well as create the lineup for an entertainment standpoint. This ensured that the show didn’t feel repetitive, and it was entertaining for all to see.
During the freshman-sophomore showing of the show, the audience decided to participate by waving their flashlights, or clapping along with the song. It’s safe to say that the talent show was a hit among grades alike. The most memorable performance among many was the “Timber” dance, performed by juniors Julian Harbor and Hayden Fessenden, who have been participating in the talent show since their freshman year. It has become their very own tradition. It’s something for them to look forward to each year, and it’s even fun for the crowd to join in and clap along to the beat of the song.
It’s safe to say that the Heritage annual talent show is here to stay. It is encouraged for everyone to try out, even if they don’t necessarily think they’ll be able to get in. Confidence in yourself is key!
