LeAnne Hines is a 16-year-old junior attending Heritage High School, now in her second year here. Before coming to Heritage, she attended Ooltewah High School until the end of her freshman year. Hines states coming to Heritage felt like a breath of fresh air for her with a much better atmosphere than Ooltewah High School. She said she’s excited and nervous for the future that HHS will provide.
Hines’s early childhood was filled with a great home life, but everything shifted the moment her parents separated at 9 years old. After the separation, both parents jumped into new relationships that continue to this day. Hines’s feelings are mixed about her step parents; she states her feelings for them are “in the middle.” Her family has grown over the years, her dad and his fiancé recently welcomed a baby in April, giving her a new sibling. All together, she has one full sister, three stepsisters and a half-sibling on the way from her mom and stepdad. Despite the challenges, Hines is proud of the person she has become.
Hines said at Ooltewah High School she felt as if she was another person. HHS opened her up to new things, and helped her realize who she truly was. Looking back, she wishes she had approached her first year of high school differently. Hines explained she was focusing on making friends and worrying about others, instead of setting her own goals
Outside of school, Hines enjoys listening to music and occasionally playing softball. She loves watching the sport, though she does not have a favorite college or national team; she simply enjoys the game itself. Her favorite artist is Bryson Tiller, whose music she plays whenever she has a chance. Looking ahead, Hines dreams of attending either Southern Adventist University or Chattahoochee Technical College. Her ultimate goal is to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing science, and build a future. Hines carries her gratitude and determination to take her dreams along the way.
