Iris Lee, a 14-year-old freshman has found the way to be exemplary in both academics and character. She works hard in class, studies, and genuinely cares about being a loving person.
Lee’s friends describe her as hardworking, smart, and kind. Sophia Rainwater said, “She’s definitely determined on her work. She’s enrolled in all honors and AP classes.” She also mentioned Lee joining the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) in eighth grade, and her ability to keep up a 4.0 grade point average.
Lee achieves this by not only working hard, but by setting ambitious goals as well, such as trying out for chamber choir, musicals, and keeping high expectations for herself. Lee is truly a great example of academic excellence. She didn’t stop there; she also achieved extraordinary character.
She showcases this by being honest, empathetic, and kind.
Rainwater said, “She’s pretty smart. She’s very good to talk about feelings with.” She also described Lee as being humble, despite her high grades and phenomenal character.
If that doesn’t say something about her character, then perhaps hearing the three things Lee values most will. “I really value love, friendship, and empathy, because I think they’re really important to having a happy life and caring for people,” she said.
Outside of academics, Lee is involved in choir, drama, and her youth group at Highlands Presbyterian.
“I do choir and drama, and I feel really passionate about both of those. I also try to be active in my youth group, and other stuff like that,” Lee said.
Her ability to work hard not only in academics, but also in her extracurricular activities truly shows how dedicated she is to success in all areas of her life.
How does she do it? Lee prefers flashcards, but emphasizes the importance of having a good study system, such as writing practice questions instead of relying on reading notes.
“Flashcards are really good for studying. They’re my favorite thing to do and they’ve helped me pass almost every test,” she said. “I would recommend getting a really good system for how you study, so not just reading the notes, like actually writing practice questions.”
While Lee believes that studying is essential to good grades, she also thinks that ambition and drive are just as important.
“I think it’s because I feel really driven. I have a lot of goals, and I want to get into UGA. I think that’s one of the main reasons. I have a lot of goals motivating me, and I just work hard to achieve them,” Lee said.
Lee also mentioned how essential hard work is to finally getting the grades you’ve always dreamed of.
“I think being a hard worker is so important to everybody’s lives, and I think everybody needs to have a good work ethic. I think if you do, then you’ll be happy and successful in your life, and whatever goals you have,” she said.
Now you know the way to be like Iris Lee, the kind of girl you want to be. After all, who wouldn’t want to be a straight A student with phenomenal morals?
