Emily Lacas, a new staff member, works part time in the library, helps Mrs. Cathy Nix, assists in bus transportation in the afternoons, and does community service. Many of her coworkers have described her as nice, organized, and a fast learner.
“She’s learning her job very well, and doing really good, ” said Mrs. Hamil, one of the front office workers. “She’s just jumped right in and learned her position, and she’s a team player.” Mr. Douglass, a media specialist, said, “Mrs. Lacas is well organized and knows what she’s doing. She’s split between two jobs, working in the main office and helping out in the media center, since we’re down a ParaPro in here.”
Before joining us at Heritage, Mrs. Lacas was a stay at home mom for six years, showing lots of dedication to her job. When she moved to Heritage, she wanted to be close to her kids while at work. “I wanted to be in the school system that my kids go to,” she said
So there she went. Prior to joining the staff here, Mrs. Lacas made connections with many of the people in this community. That encouraged her to go for this position when she saw it open.
“I’m from Louisiana, so I moved here a year and a half ago,” she said. “I have become friends with a lot of people in this community, and when this position became available, I decided to give it a shot”
Her first impression of Heritage was the exceedingly high amount of school spirit that both students and teachers showcase. Mrs. Lacas said, “My first impression was that y’all are very high spirited and have a lot of school spirit. Everyone here seems kind.”
Although it is only the beginning of the school year, Mrs. Lacas has already nailed her role at Heritage and has shown extraordinary growth and dedication to her job. She is organized, and helps greatly in an eclectic assortment of tasks that, all together, have greatly benefited our school.
