Joy Jancewicz is a new teacher here at HHS. She teaches Spanish to grades 10 and 11. Mrs. Jancewicz had “always wanted to be a teacher.” She said, “I think it’s because I enjoy learning. Like, you’ve got a subject you enjoy, people are always changing, and besides that, everyone is still young, excited about life and to learn.”
As far as teaching at Heritage, Jancewicz says she had heard so many good things about Heritage, and as soon as a spot opened up, she applied. For her, the transition has been “pleasantly surprising”.
“I was a little afraid about coming from elementary school to high school, but I really like it. Actually, I love it,” Jancewicz said.
Before teaching at Heritage, Jancewicz lived 1,001 lives. Previously, she taught as a substitute at Battlefield Elementary and Lakeview Middle, she was a waitress, cashier, hotel employee translator, a bank teller, and she worked at a therapist office.
Over the years, all of her jobs have been a favorite for different reasons, but Jancewicz says this one is her favorite as of now.
As far as teaching goes, Jancewicz is looking forward to “just getting better at it and just getting to know everyone and how everything works… basically just learning more and getting better.”
According to Jancewicz herself, this job “just makes [her] happy.”
