David Stoker is a teacher/coach at Heritage High school. His job is to teach kids in any grade who had failed a class the previous year. This is so they can still get the credit for that class instead of re-taking the class. They can earn their credit by being in the class for a semester, just going over what they struggle with in that certain class.
He has been teaching for 26 years in his career, and enjoys helping students. “My first impression when I came to Heritage was that everybody was so friendly, and really welcomed me to Heritage and made me comfortable the first few days,” said Mr. Stoker.
Regarding memorable moments at Heritage, Mr. Stoker said, “I was walking in the hall and Mr. Broom fell down the stairs at Heritage and I died laughing before I could even get to him to help.” He likes Heritage so much because the kids are more self aware in high school than middle school. He said, “I don’t have to be more hands on in class with the kids.” The only thing that he doesn’t like about Heritage is that he would like for the school to fix the stairs because he has tripped too many times!
Some things that are a little unusual for him are all the freshmen asking him how to get around the school. Mr. Stoker said, “They definitely don’t wanna ask me because I get lost most of the time.” He attended college at Georgia Southern University and went four years there. The reason he applied at Heritage is because the opportunity opened up and he knew some people who came here and said it was a great environment, he is so glad he chose to.
