This year, many new teachers and faculty members have joined our school. Bryan Gannaway is one of our school’s new Special Education Social Studies teachers.
“I’ve always found myself coaching and teaching others,” he said. “I always knew I wanted to be a teacher.”
Mr. Gannaway has been teaching professionally for 15 years, but he has always been passionate about education. He moved to Heritage High School in order to get closer to his family. He worked as a teacher in Tift country for nine years, and has since worked in several other counties in South Georgia. He has always gravitated towards coaching and teaching others, which led him to pursue a career in education after working in sales for 20 years.
Working in any new environment can be a difficult transition, but Mr. Gannaway expressed his eagerness to help his students not only learn in the classroom, but grow as people. He has never taught World History before, but he is very willing to teach a new subject. He is looking forward to getting into a stable routine here and adjusting to his new job.
“Mr. Gannaway is an intelligent person, with a lot of experience,” Mr Lee, the assistant principal, said. “I think he’s going to do a great job for us, and he is an outstanding teacher.”
An interesting fact about Mr. Gannaway outside of school is that he is extremely skilled at pool. He was the billiard champion at his alma mater, The University of Georgia. He has since competed in several competitions and won eighth in the nation for pool. He has many hobbies including pickleball and various other sports. He expressed his gratitude for all of the opportunities he has received.
Mr. Bryan Gannaway is a new addition to the HHS staff. It is such an honor to have Mr. Gannaway teach at our school. He is passionate about education, and he is ready to help students learn. He is so excited to see what his future here holds.
