“Avengers: Endgame” is a film that was published by Marvel Studios on April 26th, 2019. It is the climactic film that concludes the Infinity Saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The MCU started in 2008 with “Iron Man,” and has grown into one of the biggest film franchises in history. This movie was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, and was highly anticipated because it promised to wrap up many storylines that had been developing for more than a decade. Now in 2025, “Endgame” is the second highest grossing movie in the world and has over 2.8 billion dollars in sales.
The previous Avengers movie was “Infinity War,” and “Endgame” is the sequel to it. Previously, in “Infinity War,” the villain Thanos wiped out half of all life with the snap of his fingers after acquiring all of the Infinity Stones.
However, “Endgame” uses a mix of action, emotion, and character development to show how the Avengers try to reverse this terrible tragedy. The Avengers who survived come together and figure out how they can use time travel to change the past. The desperate plan of the movie is that the story kicks off with the remaining Avengers trying to formulate a plan to reverse the snap and undo Thanos’ destruction. This movie has a risky mission and is very complicated. Requiring the heroes to split into teams and carefully navigate the altered timeline to avoid disrupting the past.
There’s a reason for “Endgame” being such a popular movie, and Marvel as a whole being able to reign as such a popular franchise. This movie struck up many emotions, leaving many watchers having to deal with the loss of their favorite characters. “Endgame” was able to tie off many plot holes that were originally opened in previous movies. Having this movie work as a closure to many characters’ stories gave the MCU an availability to work on new characters, and build an even larger universe. There was a thrill to the movie every minute it went on, leaving the watcher on the edge of their seat until the very end.
