The HHS wrestling teams have always had a reputation for being very successful at competitions, and the regional tournament this past week was no exception. Both the boys and girls team did an incredible job, and we are extremely proud of all their hard work.
“I felt like we did good, and we really worked as a team,” freshman Beau Pattison said.
The Region 7AAA Duals Championship was hosted here at Heritage on January 10th, and the Generals (the boys team) went 3-1 and placed third. In the first round, the Generals had a strong start, beating Adairsville 62-17. This is an incredible accomplishment. Unfortunately, in the semifinal round, the Generals played against Calhoun and lost 31-35. In the consolation bracket, the Generals beat North West Whitfield 44-32. Then, in a turn of events, the Generals beat Lafayette in the Consolation Finals. This solidified their win as third in the region.
“I was proud of the team,” said freshman Lane Redwine. “We did good; we worked together well.”
All of the players on the boys team did a spectacular job, but a few especially stood out. Sophomores Kegan Tidwell, Asher Kay, Wyatt Womack, and Wesley Mcdaniel all went undefeated throughout the entire tournament. The Generals did an incredible job, so be sure to congratulate them if you see anybody on the team!
In addition to the incredible feat made by the boys team, the Lady Generals made history playing at this tournament for the first time. The Lady Generals played 1-2 and in the end placed 7th out of 22 other schools. This means that the Lady Generals beat fifteen other schools. In the first round, the Lady Generals were unfortunately beaten by LFO, scoring 30-46. In the following round—the consolation bracket—the Lady Generals fought very hard against Soronaville, but lost a close round with 30-35. Then, in the consolation finals, the Lady Generals beat North Murray by a single

point. This single point led them to placing seventh in the region. Sophomore Adison Steadman and freshman Kaydence Edge were both undefeated in this tournament. They have both worked exceptionally hard for this incredible accomplishment. The Lady Generals are an incredible team, so make sure to congratulate them!
“I feel really good about the tournament,” Adison Steadman, a sophomore on the team said. “We could definitely make some improvements, work harder, and practice. But overall, I feel good.”
The HHS wrestling teams certainly did not disappoint at the district 7AAA Regional Tournament. The HHS community is so proud of their wrestlers, and cannot wait to see what they do at the next tournament.
