At the beginning of the year, the Heritage High School soccer team is preparing for a new season filled with success, growth, and team spirit. With some experienced but also new players, the team is ready to start in a successful soccer season.
“We have a very good team this year. Despite injuries, we have really talented players. We got a lot of seniors and some pretty good freshmen that will help our team.”
Under the coaching of Coach Kendal Shipley, the players are getting prepared for the upcoming games and for their game against Ringgold on the 5th of February.
Coach Shipley explained that for having a more successful season, it’s important to have a hardworking group. “We have a lot of work to do; we have to have a schedule, but we are looking forward to getting better.” The team is focused on building a stronger and more unified team, as well as developing a chemistry on and off the field that makes the group ready to take on the challenges ahead.
Getting better and playing a better season is the key point. “Last season we were pretty good, but we didn’t work as a team together really well. That’s why we lost in the first round of state.”
The team is currently aiming to beat Ringgold, and eventually, make it to the state competition. This game is the start in the new season and will give a first impression of the Heritage Highschool soccer boys. “As long as we beat Ringgold, I’m happy”
As the first game approaches, excitement is building among the players and coaches. There is a huge potential to accomplish something special this year. For Heritage High School, this season is about more than just performing well; it’s about growth, teamwork and hopefully representing Heritage in the state competition.
