On the evening of Monday, April 27, an induction ceremony for the American Sign Language Honor Society was held at HHS. Dr. Godfrey and the ASL Honor Society recognized the following five sophomore inductees for their outstanding achievements of studying ASL: Jenny Bridges, Noah Clayton, Lee Forester, Destiny Land, and Emmy Sparks. By becoming ASL Honor Society members, the inductees promise to maintain academic excellence, to be involved in the deaf community, and further explore deaf culture. The new members are also expected to be involved in community service projects and other activities such as HHS Deaf Awareness Week, Deaf Deaf World at both HMS and HHS, Signing Story Time at Catoosa County Library, Northwest Georgia Interpreting workshops, and ASL peer tutoring. In addition, Dr. Godfrey recognized the following 2015 ASLHS seniors: Allie Beagles, Mackenzie Dilbeck, Chase Guajardo, Kaitlin Kibble, Emilia Reynolds, and Laura Ramsey.

Guests and the American Sign Language Honor Society members had the privilege of listening to the keynote speaker, Loren Frick. Mr. Frick earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Tennessee Temple University and his Master of Education in Special Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Currently, Mr. Frick teaches at the Georgia School for the Deaf where he is in his seventh year of the middle school mathematics teacher. During his speech, Mr. Frick encouraged students to maintain their love for American Sign Language. No matter what career paths the honor society members may take, those students were encouraged to have a life-long yearning to maintain and further develop their skills of American Sign Language.
