HOT PURSUIT

HOT PURSUIT

Elise Jones, Co-Editor

As an avid fan of comedy movies in general, I knew I had to see Hot Pursuit as soon as it came out. Well, I saw it after it about a week after it came out at the drive-in with a group of my friends, and I think that made my viewing experience even better. Hot Pursuit follows two women: a by-the-book cop (Reese Witherspoon) and the sassy, charismatic widow of a drug boss (Sofia Vergara). Together, the pair races throughout several locations in the state of Texas to outrun a few hired guns and some dirty cops, all in the name of justice.

I have to say, I was surprised that this movie didn’t review too well. I thought it was a great comedy. It was like the perfect balance between comedic and seriousness. It wasn’t too heavy but it also wasn’t so funny that it was stupid and had no relative plot (kind of like Dumb and Dumber To). Vergara and Witherspoon are two of my favorite actresses, and together they really made a fantastic pairing. The two really played off of each other during the film in all of the different situations their characters went through, which made it even better.

If you’re a fan of either actress, I really recommend that you see this movie because I laughed a lot during the course of the film. I’ll be in “hot pursuit” of this movie when it’s released on DVD for sure.
