When it comes to Gilmer, the Heritage softball team wanted nothing less than a win. The Gilmer softball team gave the Generals their first loss, so our girls wanted to get revenge. They traveled down to Gilmer with the right mindset, and remembered what the Bobcats did to them the last time. The best part about the win last night was that it was Gilmer’s Senior Night. It is always great to beat you rival, but it is even better to beat them during their last home game.

Taelyn Bates had yet another great game in the circle. She threw a complete game against the Bobcats, and they were rarely able to get a hit off of her, so she only gave up less than a hand full. The ladies’ defense was a little shaky yesterday, so a complete game from their pitcher was just what they needed. The Generals kept the opposing team from scoring until the last inning, where they gave up only one run.

Offensively, the highlight of the night was a home run from Sydney Smith. Sydney also had a line drive over the third basemen’s head that got her to third. Krissi Prewitt had a surprising pop-up bunt that landed without anyone catching it. This helped score a run while also scaring the pants off everyone in the stands.

This win was very important to our team, because if they win the Pickens game, they will be in first seed going into the region tournament.
