FIVE YEARS

FIVE+YEARS

Connor Harlan, Co-Editor-in-Chief

To those with pain in their hearts over the cost of vinyl copies of Bowie’s RCA records, I can’t say Bowie’s recent “Five Years” box set will save you any money, but it is pretty darn cool. The box set collects the albums “David Bowie,” “The Man Who Sold the World,” “Hunky Dory,” “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars,” the 2003 Ken Scott remix of “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars,” “Aladdin Sane,” and “Pin-Ups,” along with his 1972 live in Santa Monica album, the two-disc “Ziggy Stardust” soundtrack, and a double-disc collection of B-sides and rarities. While the $119.99 CD price tag ($249.99 for vinyl) may seem a bit steep, it’s very much worth it for these albums, especially considering their surge in prices recently. These are classic records that are not to be missed by any rock music fan and are some of the most important musical documents ever released. Snag this box set while you still can.
