GENERAL TAKEDOWN

Jordan Templeton, Staff Writer

This past week, the Generals competed in a tournament against teams like Adairsville and Chapel Hill. To say that the Generals performed well is a complete understatement. Heritage left the tournament winning first place overall. I interviewed Coach Craft following the tournament, and he was very pleased with the team’s performance. He felt that one guy in particular performed very well, and that guy is Chuckie Thurman.

Chuckie finished with four wins overall, and two of those victories came by pin. This isn’t a surprise, considering just how great of a wrestler Chuckie is. Besides Chuckie’s performance, Coach Craft felt that the whole team had a great day. Many of the Generals finished the day undefeated, and a lot of them had at least one pin. Hopefully the guys can keep their momentum going towards December 12 in Cleveland. According to Coach Craft, the guys are going to Cleveland, Tennessee, to compete in, “One of the toughest dual tournaments of the whole season.” Although they have some tough competition, the guys can definitely get the job done, especially if they perform the way that they performed at this past tournament.

I know it is too early in the season to start predicting things, but I feel like the team could definitely make it to state. They have performed so well this season, and they continue to impress many. If the Generals continue to perform at a high level, then there is no reason for them not to make it to state.
