The classic 1978 film, “Grease,” that we all know and love to this day has recently inspired the Hollywood world to create a musical spinoff of the film. This past Sunday, January 31, the musical film, “Grease: Live,” premiered on FOX and brought back memories to many, while simultaneously adding in a bit of a modern twist. Starring Julianne Hough, Aaron Tveit, Vanessa Hudgens, Keke Palmer, Carly Rae Jepsen and many more talented actors and actresses, I was really excited to see how the show would turn out with the variety of different talents that the performers had prior to. Personally, I admired Vanessa Hudgens as well as Julianne Hough the most out of everyone who performed simply because they took their roles and portrayed them as well as they did. Both actresses really matched the characters of the original film, Hough acting as Sandy and Hudgens as Rizzo, which made it really nice to watch. Besides a few added songs and scenes here and there, the Live performance really did a good job of following most of the original film’s plot. As far as the musical aspect of the show goes, I really liked the way it was done. As the scenes changed it appeared to be a stage spinning and moving to another setting which I thought was really cool and something I haven’t really seen before, which made me want to watch even more. Overall, the film was exciting, romantic and was a good mix of the old and the new.
