PEYTON THE GOAT

When you’re good at something, you know it. However, when you’re great at something, other people will tell you. We all know the greats in sports history: Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Wayne Gretsky, Babe Ruth, etc. These names are well known and respected because of what these athletes did in their respective sports. To be the greatest and most renowned athlete of all-time in your sport is a major accomplishment and to become the GOAT, you truly must establish dominance in your time and break records that will not be broken for a long time after you retire.

Recently, legendary NFL quarterback Peyton Manning retired after winning his second Super Bowl, becoming the first to win with two different teams. Throughout his illustrious career, Peyton set numerous records and turned and entire franchise around playing for the Indianapolis Colts. After being selected by the Colts as the number one draft pick in 1998 Peyton played with them for 14 years throwing for 54,828 yards and 399 touchdowns. While Peyton was at Indianapolis they went 141-67, making the playoffs 11 times. Peyton led the team to two Super Bowls winning one. He truly did turn Indianapolis into a football town. Because of all that Peyton did for the Indianapolis Colts they have decided in light of his retirement to build a statue of the man in front of Lucas Oil Stadium and to retire his No. 18 jersey. Talk about a legacy!
