Spring sports bring on what most people know as America’s favorite pastime, baseball season. We are a quarter of the way through the MLB season, and there have been some teams that can’t seem to be stopped and some that just look awful, can’t even sugarcoat it. Many teams have been dominating the whole league, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox. Yes you read that right, the same Cubs who haven’t won a world series in over 100 years is in complete control of the MLB behind the great pitching of Jake Arrieta.

Chicago is known to many as the home to two of the MLB’s less dominant teams, but this year goes against that narrative. The Cubbies are on top of the MLB with the best record in the entire league. They are led by pitcher Jake Arrieta who hasn’t lost a game this year, has a 1.29 ERA and has even thrown a no hitter already. In this early time of the season, he is the leader for the CY Young award and could easily run away with it. The other team in Chicago, the White Sox, are having a great start to the season as well making Chicago the city to live in right now. The White Sox are on top of the AL Central and tied for the best record in the AL. They are tied with the Boston Red Sox, who is my personal favorite team, has looked very dominant on the offensive end. The bats are on fire for the Red Sox early in the season and haven’t slowed down, but pitching has looked very suspect for them. They signed star pitcher David Price to a huge contract this past off-season, but he has looked like a shell of his former self so far but is trying to get his form back.

Baseball is one of my personal favorite sports to watch and is definitely America’s favorite pastime in my eyes. Many people see baseball as a boring sport, but obviously they haven’t given it the fair chance it deserves. This summer, sit down and enjoy an old fashion baseball game. I assure you that you will fall in love with the sport.
