New Year, New Memes

Each year I feel like society gets a little funnier and our memes get a little more dank. However, 2017 is not off to a great start.Right now the most popular meme, which is captivating the internet is a video of this 13 year old girl who thinks she is “street”. She was a patient on the Dr.Phil show because her mother claimed she was out of control and stealing cars. A few clips from the show were uploaded to YouTube and the internet went crazy. In one clip the audience is laughing at the girl and she tells them all, “Catch me outside, how about that,” but the way she says it, it sounds like “cash me outside how bow dah” and that’s what made it funny. If you scroll through Twitter all you will see are pictures of this girl’s face with the caption saying her famous quote. Some kids even made a song and a dance out of the phrase. I can see why this is comical, the girl is super outrageous and it’s hard to believe she’s not faking it, but I don’t understand why it’s still so popular. I thought it was just one of those videos you watch and it’s funny enough to make you smirk and blow air out of your nose. It’s baffling to me how popular this girl is. It is so popular in fact that they even made a bitmoji of the meme. This girl shouldn’t be as internet famous as she is, she’s just a kid who talks in a stupid accent and thinks she is more grown up than she really is. Frankly, she is annoying and hard to understand I couldn’t imagine ever having a conversation with her. Don’t get me wrong, I am a meme enthusiast, usually I appreciate all memes, but this one didn’t even deserve a spot in my camera roll.
