THE ANTICIPATION IS STRONG

Every year, many movies are released to the public. Some get an absurd amount of Oscar buzz, some are dismissed due to their lack of quality, and others hit it big or are labeled as “decent” and forgotten rather quickly.  So to continue my tradition of doing a list of my most anticipated movies of 2017, I have prepared another list of films that I am the most excited for. This list goes from my fifth most anticipated all the way to my most anticipated.

My fifth most anticipated is “Logan.” This film is supposedly going to be Hugh Jackman’s final time portraying the mutant with the adamantium claws and it looks phenomenal. Based on what the trailers have given us a taste of, this movie looks like a gritty, independent western disguising itself as a big blockbuster superhero film. I was interested with what James Mangold did with the 2013 film “The Wolverine” and I’m excited to see with what he does with this film.

My fourth most anticipated movie is “John Wick: Chapter 2.” I was blown away with what was done in “John Wick” and I’m pumped to see this. This movie looks like a lot like the original which includes tons of choreographed action that tons of people loved about the original and more of Keanu Reeves dishing out pain to all the baddies.

My third most anticipated movie is “Kong: Skull Island.” This movie looks a lot like a cross between “King Kong” and “Apocalypse Now” and I am really digging it. The cast and cinematography look great. John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson, John C. Riley, and Tom Hiddleston all star in this war film in which soldiers crash land on an island after being taken down by Kong himself.

My second most anticipated is “Alien: Covenant.” This sequel/prequel looks terrifying and I am really digging it. What I’m happy about the most is that Michael Fassbender is returning to reprise his role of David from the movie “Prometheus.”

Drum roll please!

My most anticipated movie of 2017 is “Blade Runner: 2049.” Dennis Villeneuve knows how to make great movies. “Arrival,” “Prisoners,” and “Sicario” are all great films and “Blade Runner: 2049” looks like it could be his most ambitious film to date. Harrison Ford reprises his role from the original film and Ryan Gosling has also boarded the project. The cinematography looks magnificent. I’m very intrigued by what I’ve seen and it looks like it could be one of the best films of the year.
