AMERICA’S FAVORITE PASTIME

The expectations for this year’s baseball team at Heritage High School are extremely high. The reasons for this are last year’s team made it to the elite eight of the state tournament and the fact that they still have a lot of talent returning. This team will be strengthened by excellent pitching by Georgia commit Cole Wilcox and Patrick Henry Community College commit Alex Barbee. This combo along with timely hitting by a lineup that has a ton of speed and power will lead to a ton of success this year. This team had their home opener this past Friday against cross county rival Ringgold. This game is always a good one and usually stays close the whole time. Well this one was not close, but was a good one. The final score was 10-2 with Alex Barbee and Cole Wilcox leading us on the mound, and great hitting by the whole lineup. It was a great game to start the season with at home, and if they all continue to play that way they will be very hard to beat in the state tournament come April. Notable home games coming up in the future include Dalton on March 25, East Hamilton on April 1, and lastly senior night on April 20th. This team has four seniors this year: Alex Barbee, Joseph Hill, Josh Davidson, and Corbee Wilson. All of these Generals want to leave this program having had one of the best years in school history and they certainly have the chance to do that.  Once the weather gets warmer be sure to make it out to a baseball game this spring the Generals are sure to impress.
