ANOTHER GLITCH IN THE MATRIX

Shalee Thompson, Staff Writer

According to “The Hollywood Reporter,” “The Matrix” is getting a remake. It was reported that Warner Bros. is in the early stages of developing a rebooted version of the 1999 cyberpunk classic, with “Creed” star Michael B. Jordan. The original “The Matrix” producer Joel Silver reportedly approached Warner Bros. with the idea of creating a new film, but people were nervous about many issues. The producer also announced to have sold his attention in “The Matrix” movies in 2012 for some $30 million.

The Wachowskis, who both wrote and directed the original movie and its divisive sequels, are seen to have more worth to fans than Silver, although they may not take it upon themselves to have a major role in production. On further notice, a set date has not been made for the remake of the production yet, because like the planned “The Matrix” show, the project could still possibly get canceled. If “The Matrix” reboot happens, it’s questionable that the Wachowskis will be directing or writing. It’s scattered about what form this “Matrix” reboot would take. A T.V. series has already been done away with, so they are looking at a new movie.

The writer has been involved in a lot of superhero movies, so it’s possible that “The Matrix” will look more like a comic book than an odd cyber robot nightmare or something. The best scenario could be something like what we saw in the anime “The Animatrix,” which told previous stories from later in “The Matrix” timeline, before the machines came upon us humans.
