STAR WARS CELEBRATION

Bethany Hall, Staff Writer

Last week, on April 13-16, there was an event held in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. This event was unlike any other; it was a “Star Wars Celebration.” Like I have mentioned in an article before, it is the fortieth year that “Star Wars” has been around (and one contest just isn’t going to cut it). This was an event just like the one in 2007 to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary, only the fortieth is bigger and better. This event was for anyone who loves “Star Wars” and just wanted to celebrate their anniversary with them.

As for the event itself, what didn’t they have to offer? They had everything that would help you celebrate the “Star Wars” franchise, including an art show, a collector’s stage, a cosplay contest, speed dating, diorama building contests, and even a tattoo pavilion for all of your “Star Wars” needs.  Since the celebration was a huge success and had so many people come, they are already planning another celebration for 2019 in a location that has yet to be named.

The official website of “Star Wars Celebration” states, “There has never been a more exciting time to be a ‘Star Wars’ fan, and this celebration will bring fans of all ages together, from all around the world, to celebrate the pop culture phenomenon that is ‘Star Wars’ … four fun-filled days of celebration, costumes, exhibits, screenings, exclusive merchandise, celebrity guests, panels, autograph sessions, and other surprises celebrating all things ‘Star Wars!’”

So if you missed this year’s celebration, go ahead and start planning your road trip for 2019 to get your “Star Wars” on!
