EDITORIAL: UNICORNS ARE REAL?

Emily Blevins, News Editor

Lately, there has been an enormous trend of unicorns in social media, beauty products, food and drinks, and more. Unicorn themes, icons, designs, etc. seem to have been literally everywhere in the past month or so. Although, I am not entirely sure about the origin of this extremely popular trend and why it is all of the sudden so popular, I do know that I am definitely not mad at it; I have actually really enjoyed what I have seen of it so far.

I do understand how some people can think that it is somewhat annoying because unicorns really are everywhere right now, but honestly, because I have a tendency to like things with pretty colors and designs, I think it’s a pretty cute trend. Essentially, this trend has brought forth an enormous variation of things involving rainbow and or pastel colors, glitter and sparkles, unicorn horns, and more.

Some of the more prominent examples of this trend include the unicorn drink that Starbucks recently came out with, makeup brushes in the shape of unicorn horns, and unicorn emojis suddenly going along with any and every social media post that you can think of. People are finding all sorts of ways to incorporate this new trend into their everyday lives, and I personally think it is pretty cool and pretty funny as well. So whether you are a fan of the vast amount of popularity that unicorns have been gleaning together lately or not, there is one thing that we can all agree on; these unicorns are certainly real.
