HE FEELS THE NEED

Everyone remembers the instant action classic from 1986, “Top Gun.” This movie follows young navy student, Lieutenant Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise), and his quest to be daring and learn things as a pilot by going to an instructor outside of the normal classroom. This action-packed, dramatic, and romantic 80s classic has waited a long time for some big news, and Tom Cruise finally let the cat out of the bag: there is going to be a “Top Gun 2.”

For so many years, there has been rumor after rumor that the brilliant movie “Top Gun” may get a sequel, but no one has ever made it possible and no one was ever able to prove the rumors right or wrong. “I know. It’s happening. It is definitely happening. You’re the first people that I’ve said this to.” Cruise told “Today Pop Culture.” Since the information was released, producers and screenwriters have announced that filming will start as soon as possible and fans have been roaring all over social media with excitement. After the original director, Tony Scott, passed away in 2012 due to taking his own life, a lot of hope was lost by many fans for the sequel. However, some writers have announced that with how the scripts and set ups are going, they should start filming within the next year.

Many fans have ambushed Tom Cruise’s twitter with excitement and have even predicted the plot for the upcoming sequel such as “Top Gun 2: Tom Cruise is now a teacher at Top Gun school and all the students are drones. He’s the only actor in the movie.” Another prediction was “Top Gun 2 is just footage of Maverick piloting a drone from a windowless trailer.” While most of the predictions are just silly suggestions to put in the new movie, it really shows how excited these fans are after they’ve waited all this time. They just still feel the need … the need for speed.
