The Heritage High School’s annual coupon book sale began last week. This sale is the only school-wide fundraiser for the year. Previous sales have bought the school an outdoor volleyball court, a new bell and clock system, picnic tables, and school-wide wi-fi even before the Chromebooks came in. Mr. Bradford explained that, “If you use the coupons from the book, you will get your money back. The purchase is well worth it.” The money raised from the coupon book sale is going toward new student furniture for the common areas selected by the Student Government Association. There are some students who see the use of the coupon book sale but dislike the time needed to sell them. One of these students, Abby Manion, explained, “My family likes them, but I do not like selling them, because I do not like asking people for money.” However, there are prizes for selling different amounts of coupon books. This gives many of the students a good incentive to sell as many coupon books as possible. The first and second top sellers will receive season passes for the sporting events at Heritage, and the top seller will receive a 52-inch flat screen TV from the school’s partner, Walmart. The school’s goal for the students is for each of them to sell at least three coupon books. If each student does their part then the school will have nice new furniture for them to enjoy. The coupon book is a good deal, because students get the coupons, the furniture, and the prizes, while the school gets to upgrade and improve. While the coupon book sale may take a little effort on the student’s part, it leads to great things for the school and ultimately for the student in return.
