The Atlanta Falcons and the Detroit Lions played a very nerve-racking game last Sunday. The Falcons fell from the ranks of the unbeaten on Sunday in one of the wildest and most heartbreaking ways you’ll ever witness.  The Falcons were ahead of the Lions pretty efficiently during the majority of the game. The Atlanta’s offense was just too much to handle on the very first drive of the game. Things could not have gotten off to a worse start for the Lions during the second quarter. Atlanta made their third field goal of the game extending their lead to 23-13. The Lions finally found their rhythm, after gaining some momentum on offense. The Lions started gaining on the Falcons during the last of the third quarter. Detroit caught up and were tied with Atlanta.

During the last minutes of the fourth quarter the Lions scored a touchdown against the NFC champions Atlanta Falcons with eight seconds to play. Everyone then thought the game was over and that the Lions had defeated the Falcons. However, Tate was ruled inches short from the goal line on the review and the touchdown was nullified. Before they had nullified the touchdown, you could just feel the Falcons fans’ anger, and once they nullified it, you could feel the Falcons fans’ happiness, as well as the Lions’ heartbreak. This ending definitely made the cut for one of the most heartbreaking ways to lose a football game.  What a game. And what a way to lose.
