Everyone has a mom and/or grandma that makes amazing homemade mac and cheese, not crappy stuff in a box. We are talking about noodles in a pot with cheddar cheese, mixed with love in it. Everyone’s grandma/mother has a different recipe for making the amazing golden noodles that has been passed down from the generations. You can get a group of old ladies in a room and have them make the best mac they can, and not a single one will taste the same. How is that possible, you might ask. Is it caused by dark magic or some mythical being? It’s amazing how a little more cheddar or a pinch of pepper can change the entire dish’s flavor. I firmly believe that making mac and cheese is an art that takes years and years of practice to master and hone in the flavor. You can not get that kind of royal taste from a box. If you willingly choose to eat boxed mac and cheese, then we can’t be friends. Boxed mac and cheese is for struggling college students who had to make a economic decision between ramen beef-flavored ramen instant noodles, a bag of family-sized chips, or boxed mac and cheese. No love, time, or flavor go into it: it’s a machine doing the same job over and over again all day, everyday. Making mac and cheese is an art that doesn’t have a perfect recipe. It takes time to find that perfect dish to give to the children of the family.
