Tension was high this week as the Heritage High School wrestling team competed in the state duals against many formidable schools. The team fought hard and ended up placing 7th in AAAA state with an even 2 wins and 2 losses. The Generals started out strong, crushing Cross Creek with a staggering score of 78-6, but as they made their way to the championship quarter finals, the Generals were defeated by West Laurens with a score of 27-47. Fortunately, not all hope was lost as the Generals still had the consolation bracket to bump themselves up in the ranks and make a comeback. Taking their first loss to heart, the team bounced back and stole a victory from Baldwin, crushing their dreams in the process with score of 66-13. This placed Heritage in the ranks of the top eight teams. But just as they were on top of the world, the team took a devastating loss to Marist. After a hard fought battle, the Generals lost by a single point, with the final score being 37-38. The team still holds their heads up high though, because even though they started the season in a rut due to the loss of many well talented seniors, they worked through the setback and landed themselves in the 7th place spot in the AAAA state championship using hard work and determination. That is something to be proud of.
