On Monday, February 26, Heritage High School had a unique visitor. A Navy Seal came here to teach, motivate, and be an inspiration to our baseball team. He mainly was teaching them life morals and “secrets to success.” He was relating stories from his military life to life on the baseball field. An example would be when he said, “When I am on the field, my biggest fear isn’t getting shot or killed. It’s having one of my friends or part of my squad getting shot. It terrifies me that they will get hurt. I am focused on their safety as they are mine. That is how it should be out there when you are running the bases. You should be focused on each other, lifting each other up, and not just focused on you being tired or hot. Work together and think of what each other might be going through.” Each player had a face of surprise when they heard this. Mr. Ledbetter and Coach Beagles smiled at the fact each player realized they needed to do that more. We were honored to have him speak for us. It is such a wonderful experience to have someone who has been through such tough times to defend us and our country stand a couple of feet in front of us and speak directly at us. He was brute and honest in a way where you knew what he stands for and believes in. We will remember your words and hope they help us in our daily choices.
